Our research agenda continues to grow, as does the field of literacies research around the world. Our agenda intends to contribute to this global development and, in particular, to the growing interest in this field in Latin America, as part of the increasing interest in developing south-south scholarship (see Mora, 2016 for a description). Our growth is present in the evolution and growth of our research lines, as well as in our own statements of what research means to us, as evidenced in our research manifesto.

The research agenda at LSLP now comprises three research lines, each covering literacy practices in physical, virtual, and school spaces in our city to better understand them and thus outline pedagogical proposals that can support formal and informal language learning and teaching initiatives in our region. Each line will feature different research studies, including team projects, senior thesis reports, and master's thesis projects. We envision having PhD dissertations as part of our research acumen in the very near future.

To learn more about our research

We are happy to share two videos that discuss our research. The first is a Global Conversations in Literacy webinar from 2015, where Dr. Mora talked about our research in the context of language ecologies. The second is a short episode of a series by the Urban and Regional Studies Institute at our university, where we discuss the idea of literacy as innovation in the city. Enjoy!
